Leadership in the War on Terrorism – Leadership for America’s Space Program Dana Rohrabacher takes a special pride in America’s victory on terrorism in Afghanistan. For years, Dana was a ferocious yet lone voice against the Taliban radicals in Afghanistan. After 9-11 he used his expertise and contacts to help mobilize a Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, which then, in concert with American Special Forces, drove Al Qaeda and the Taliban from power and out of their country. Dana was awarded a Royal Medallion by the King of Afghanistan for helping liberate his country from the Taliban. Furthermore, Dana has been one of the strongest Congressional supporters of America’s historic liberation of democratization of Iraq. At the same time, Dana has firmly backed President Bush’s roadmap to Middle East peace and strongly endorsed our President’s efforts to promote negotiations and compromise as a means to end the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. After President Bush’s historic speech outlining a long term space strategy for America, NASA Director Sean O’Keefe praised Congressman Rohrabacher’s leadership: "Most of the President’s strategy is just what you’ve been advocating. I bet you didn’t think that we were listening." As the Chairman of the Space and Aeronautics sub-committee, with jurisdiction over NASA, Dana has encouraged creative, innovative, and cost effective space related initiatives, including joint efforts between the Department of Defense and NASA. He has worked to create incentives for private investment in Space endeavors and fostered international cooperation in order to diminish the burden on our taxpayers. After the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia, Dana was a member of the joint House/Senate committee investigating the tragedy.

Better Technology for a Cleaner Environment Protecting and reclaiming our air, water and soil has been high on Representative Rohrabacher’s agenda. He championed a revolutionary new engine that will help us clean and desalinate water and go a long way in eliminating air pollution. He was instrumental in the development of a toxic cleanup technology, tested on site in Huntington Beach and now being used in various parts of the United States. Dana’s efforts on behalf of water quality have been widely recognized and applauded.

Stopping Crime, Including Illegal Immigration Congressman Rohrabacher sees illegal immigration as one of the greatest threats to the well being of the American people. He has been one of the most active members in Congress on the issue. He was an early supporter and spokesman for Proposition 187. In Washington, he has authored bills to prevent illegals from receiving any government assistance, including Social Security. While uncompromisingly against illegals, Dana has worked hard to prevent legal immigrants from being hurt in the process. Legal immigrants deserve every right, privilege and protection as citizens, which many of them have become. Illegal immigrants, in contrast, should be deported … sent home. top

Cares for our Seniors and Shares our Values Dana Rohrabacher and his staff have been instrumental in the training and equipping of 3,000 local police, firefighters and healthcare first responders, the very personnel who will protect us if America’s terrorist enemies hit Southern California, or if we suffer a major natural disaster. As far as the fundamentals, after sixteen years in Congress, Dana still prides himself on his frugal voting record and the many awards he receives for protecting the "taxpayers." He still stands up for rights of the Boy Scouts to set high moral standards for scout masters and to recognize God in their scout oath, as well as our right to keep God in the Pledge of Allegiance. He still believes America should be committed to human rights and a champion for democracy in the world. In particular, he has been a powerful opponent of Communist China’s economic war on America’s manufacturing infrastructure.

Working for Us Locally Shepherded through Congress by Dana and a few others, the Santa Ana River Project now offers protection against floods that otherwise could take thousands of lives and cause billions of dollars in property loss. The project also ended the flood insurance requirement on many local homeowners in Orange County. To take pressure of LAX and John Wayne Airport, Dana has aggressively advocated turning the former El Toro Marine airbase into an international airport. This battle, although tough, still goes on. Dana wants to lessen local freeway congestion by changing the operating hours of trucks hauling containers from our local ports. With extra funds needed for port security, Dana has authored legislation permitting a container fee to be levied so the foreign companies using our ports will pay their fair share.
